Originally from Ireland, I've lived in the US for over 20 years. I'm a person with Type 1 diabetes, who struggles with it as do most of us. I've been using a Minimed 512 since August 2003 and am looking forward to switching to a new model SOON. I also use a Dexcom CGM to track my blood glucose levels. I'm blessed by God, and every day brings the possibility of a cure.

The author, most often known as Tiffany, is a chronic shoe-aholic who talks to much, a certified germ freak, and has a rapid sense of humour (yes, that's rapid, not rabid). She is a veteran Type 1 Diabetic who uses a Paradigm 522 Real Time Insulin Pump.
Though she is a former tomboy and a real live country girl (yes, she has indeed ridden cows, plucked eggs from under chickens, and lives surrounded by farms and fields) she is known to run away, screaming like a priss, from Moths

I'm 28, the middle child of 3 girls. I live in CT and have been here since 2nd grade. In 2002, I was dx'ed with Type 1 Diabetes. I struggle with it eveyday, but I think having it has made me a stronger person. "Reach down your hand in your pocket, Pull out some hope for me..."

Inquisitive, perhaps-just-a-tad overly analytical new diabetic based in San Francisco, CA. Diagnosed with Type 1 in May 2003. BA in Journalism, MA in Communication Studies. After living overseas and many years of PR/marketing work for high-tech companies in Silicon Valley, currently a part-time freelance writer for the IT industry and full-time mom. Enjoys reading, cooking, aerobics, hiking, swimming, wine, weekend getaways, my kids(!) Oh yes, late thirties and (nearly) fitter than ever! My New Year’s resolution for the year after diagnosis was: Enjoy Life.

After being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 8, I'm coming around to all my responsibilities...16 years later. I'm a nerdy writer girl from smalltown Pennsylvania who is now a nerdy, newly married, unemployed girl in Wilmington, Delaware. I love poetry, and I've gone to the National Poetry Slam twice (and wondered if there are any other poets with diabetes out there). My husband makes robots in grad school...little did he know he was going to marry an android! Part girl, tiny part pump! Run for your life now if you don't like humor, sass, and slices of life that just might have to do with being Type 1.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on June 15th, 2006; about 5 months shy of my 40th birthday. They call it Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA). I’m doing the only thing that can be done; living with it and managing the risks.
I am Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and LAMP Web Developer. My work day involves advising the business ( a large pharmaceutical ) on data security to allow for informed decisions about whether to assume, avoid or transfer risk, and how to implement cost-effective information security solutions.
I live and work in the Princeton, NJ area with my wonderful (”Wonder Woman”) wife and two exceptional kids.
