Thoughts about current approaches to managing diabetes with an emphasis on overcoming barriers through the application of new technology. There is also an emphasis on psychology as the key to making strides in the world of patient managed chronic disease. And finally, not nearly enough clinical research has been translated to every day practice. The goal of this blog is to help accelerate progress in this area.

The mission of Children with Diabetes is to promote understanding of the care and treatment of diabetes, especially in children; to increase awareness of the need for unrestricted diabetes care for children at school and daycare; to support families living with diabetes; and to promote understanding of research into a cure.

David Mendosa’s Diabetes Directory, was one of the first and is now one of the largest Web sites focusing on diabetes. The Web site includes about 800 of David’s articles about diabetes and an annotated directory to more than 1,400 Web sites about diabetes, which are described and linked in the Online Diabetes Resources area.

I currently work at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore in an outpatient clinic setting.
